Operational Infrastructure Engineer
The Operational Infrastructure team is responsible for maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports several high availability systems. These systems handle large amounts of real-time data to support our investigations. The focus is on maintaining and improving systems, their performance, patching and upgrade paths, and systems security and integrity, whilst also ensuring value for money from our third party support agreements.
Our Enterprise Architects develop technology strategy and translate this into defined architectural models, influencing and persuading people at the highest levels. Our Application Architects understand our diverse application environment, providing designs and roadmaps to build and evolve systems that will increase value to end users. Infrastructure Architects ensure our infrastructure is aligned to MI5, developing strategies, standards, and policies, and driving technological convergence.
Business Analysis
Our Business Analysts can expect to work concurrently on multiple small projects, or in support of large, complex transformational programmes. Those at senior level will influence and shape solutions with high profile stakeholders across MI5, leading on strategic visions, and managing teams of Business Analysts to deliver successful outcomes.
IT Service Support
At MI5 our IT Service Support department encompasses many areas, such as the Service Desk, Incident and Problem Management, Operational Response, the Communications Centre and estate wide MI5 Monitoring. Whether you are experienced in IT Service Support and looking for new opportunities, or at the start of a new IT career path with a passion for technology, our aim is to nurture the development of powerful IT careers that will play a part in keeping the country safe.
Senior Programme Manager
As a senior programme manager, you will take charge of large-scale programmes that are crucial to front line staff. Unique and often innovative, most programmes involve business change and substantial technological delivery. You will inspire and direct your team to perform and achieve the successful development of your programmes.
Operational Network Engineer
The Operational Network team is responsible for the rollout and maintenance of MI5’s operations network throughout the UK. This team takes the lead in deploying a wide range of advanced MI5 technical capability to enable intelligence collection in fast-paced and high profile investigations.
Covert Technical Operations Specialists
Our Covert Technical Operations Specialists take the lead in deploying a wide range of advanced MI5 technical capability to enable intelligence collection in fast paced and high-profile investigations. They play a key role in progressing investigations helping to develop methods that allow us access to the computers and devices used by terrorist groups that pose a serious threat to national security.
Software Engineering
MI5 is regularly searching for Software Engineers with a range of experience levels in order to build, maintain and enhance our wide variety of in-house software applications. Our engineers work on a unique variety of projects through which they are able to have a direct and rewarding impact on the success of MI5. The environment here is fast paced, you will work closely with end users and deal with some of the most advanced technology around.
Cyber Technical Analysts
Our Cyber Technical Analysts provide specialist technical analysis to help progress our investigations against hostile actors conducting cyber espionage against the UK. They utilise network and host-based forensics skills, protocol analysis, reverse engineering and bespoke tools to understand the threat posed by malicious groups. They also develop new and innovative tools for MI5 to continue to advance its analytical capabilities.
Project and Programme Management
Our IT Project and Programme Managers are responsible for bespoke solutions that contribute significantly to the success of MI5. We look for forward thinking individuals to work within our Infrastructure and Application Delivery areas. These are vital and fascinating roles where, depending on your experience level, you will manage small to large sized projects to successfully lead business critical initiatives and achieve positive outcomes.
IT Service Management and Operations
Our large IT Service Management and Operations department offers a wide range of opportunities. To name just a few we often have opportunities arising within, Incident, Problem and Change Management, Data Centre Services, Service Delivery and Service Transition. We also regularly look for skilled people managers who can provide direction and support for our busy, hands-on technical teams.
